Sonnet For The Fields

Sonnet For The Fields

Together we have walked these fields
You and I.
Through wind and sleet and sun and snow
Alone or side by side.
To some, it is tradition
To do this every day,
Some kind of ritual,
To pass the time away.

It’s more special to me:
A chance to ponder destiny,
Walk by the riverside,
Breathe in the country air,
Dwell on life’s beauty,
Care not for its despair!
